What's in my Travel Makeup Bag?

I, Brittany Mercer, am a makeup junkie. I love makeup, foundation, concealer, powder, lip gloss, bronzer, all of it. I buy way too much and I should feel shame in these statements, but I don't. I am easily influenced by Jackie Aina, Samantha Ravndahl, Casey Holmes, & Arnell and will buy almost everything they recommend. So, when it comes to traveling, taking my favorites is hard. Even though deep down I know I am not going to need a neon pink eyeshadow palette, I like the options.

It’s 4th of July weekend and I know things are looking a little different this year for most. I still know a lot of people that are doing staycations or mini roadtrips to AirBNBs in cities near by, and people going to lake houses. So I put together what I would take in my summer travel makeup bag. Summers all about the protection and glow. This time of the year I just want my makeup to stay on my face and not drip like a melted ice cream cone, and I want a very "natural" glow to the skin. To me, summer is all about the skin products to achieve that sun kissed glow.

1. Dermalogica Sunscreen. I don't mind aging; we all have to do it but that doesn't mean I want it to start early. Sunscreen is a must, not just in the summer but every single day. There are UV rays everywhere, so protect yourself. Yes, this one is a little more expensive but on my skin tone I don't get the purple or grey tone after applying like with a lot of other sunscreens. This product melts into your skin and its truly a necessity.

2. Erborian Glow Creme Illuminating Primer. I told ya’ll it is all about the glow for the summer and this primer is everything. I prefer to mix a little in with my matte foundation to get the perfect balance of glow and natural matte look. I also like to just wear this on its own with a little concealer and powder and call it a day.

3. Too Faced Born this Way Concealer. My concealer of choice never changes and this one is pretty darn perfect. It gives you great coverage, a great shade range, and its buildable if you want to wear it on its own. I use this concealer throughout the year, and I love everything about it. I keep trying different concealers all the time but keep coming back to this one because it's so good.

4, Cover FX Power Play Foundation. I always thought I needed the matte foundation with the fullest coverage for these hot summer days because I'm oily. I tried this foundation and instantly loved the way it made my skin look. It melts into your skin and provides medium coverage that doesn't look over done. This was my summer staple last year and I just got a new one in the mail. I can't wait to pack it in my bag!

5. Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. If you know, you know. There's a reason all the beauty bloggers and Youtubers talk about this powder. It's because it’s great. You are locked and loaded when you use this powder. I would love it if little Miss Laura would come out with a buttery, yellow toned shade – but for now I will settle for the translucent because its flawless.

6. Dose of Color Chasing the Sun Highlight. I have been raving about this highlight for the past year and half. It is the best brown girl golden highlight. I have a backup for when it's all gone. Yes, it is that serious; this was a limited-edition Desi & Katy collaboration with Dose of Colors highlight. I loved their entire collection and would love it if Dose of Colors would make it permanent because this collection was so good on so many levels. The highlights, lip gloss, eyeshadow palette, lipsticks everything was great. I have never seen a collaboration where I have loved every single item – but that glow, girl! Makes you look like you are glowing from within. Like you drank your 8 cups water, ran around the block and you came with this perfect glow to your skin.

7. Benefit Precisely My Brow. Best product for an easy simple brow. The end

8. Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extension Mascara. I love mascara that is going to lengthen and thicken at the same. I want my lashes to look like I’m wearing falsies. This mascara does all of that and it’s a tubing mascara which makes it even better. I hate removing mascara at the end of the night because I feel like it’s the hardest thing to remove if I don't use an oil or Clinique Take the Day Off balm. Because this is a tubing mascara it comes right off, easy peasy.

9. NARS Orgasm Oil-Infused Lip Tint. I want my lips to look juicy, plump, and wet when I put on a lip gloss. Like a just ate a fresh Krispy Kreme glazed donut. I don't think that's too much to ask for. NARS lip glosses are so beautiful and pigmented that I justify the price because of how great it looks.

10. Morphe Setting Spray. I'm not a setting spray kind of girl but this one just locks everything in and makes your skin look great. If you haven't tried this yet you need to just because of the spray nozzle alone.
